- Certification Handbook (PDF) - The HRCI Certification Policies and Procedures Handbook is a critical resource as you prepare to apply and test. All candidates should carefully review the handbook and the HRCI Certification Handbook Amendment (PDF) throughout the application and testing process.

You must first complete the HRCI Application Process before you can schedule an exam appointment.
Once your application is approved and you have received your eligibility ID from HRCI, you have 180 days to choose your exam date and location. Space at testing centers is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please schedule early for your preferred date and location. Be sure to select a date and time you can commit to since there are fees associated with changes.
After you schedule your exam, Pearson VUE will send you a confirmation e-mail listing your exam date, your exam time, the address and phone number of the test center, and directions to the test center.
Scheduling by phone: Note that Pearson VUE charges a $10 fee for exam appointments made by phone.
Please note that your appointment length is longer than the exam time. The APPOINTMENT LENGTH includes ALL components of the testing appointment, including time to read and agree to the exam confidentiality statement, take the tutorial, etc. The EXAM TIME is the time that is allocated only for answering and reviewing exam questions.
Test takers are required to review the HRCI Certification Policies and Procedures Handbook (PDF) prior to sitting for an examination and must agree to adhere to the policies within it before your application can be approved.
Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
If you need to cancel or reschedule your exam appointment within your 180 day eligibility period, you must do so at least 48 hours before your original appointment. Otherwise, all fees will be forfeited and you will be considered a no-show. There is a $150 fee each time you cancel or reschedule an exam appointment.

Candidates who do not pass an exam and wish to take the same exam again must reapply and wait 90 days between exam attempts. All exam eligibility requirements and fees will apply. Candidates also may not take the exam more than three times in a consecutive 365-day period.
Candidates who fail an exam and wish to take a different HRCI exam may apply immediately for the different exam. All exam eligibility requirements and fees apply to this new exam application.
