Effective October 26, 2017, all applicants who do not hold an active notary commission (at the time their application is received by the Department) will be required to pass an examination. Authorized applicants may schedule their exam from this website after October 26, 2017.
Only those who have been approved by the Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation are permitted to schedule an exam. Applications to take an exam are submitted electronically. Please allow up to four weeks for review and approval of your notary public application. Once approved, a notification with instructions on how to schedule an exam will be emailed.

Please VERIFY that you have registered your LEGAL name as it appears on your government-issued ID and that your personal information is CORRECT. Contact the Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation immediately to correct the spelling of your name or update your personal information if you notice any errors.
